We’re thrilled to present our proposal for the rooftop bar at the Melia Hotel, located in Vienna’s iconic DC Tower. Our challenge was to tackle the narrow, canyon-like space of the country’s highest rooftop bar terrace, while also creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Currently, the terrace suffers from poor lighting and unpleasant proportions. Our solution is to introduce a soft and warm spacial installation made from colorful metal chains. Not only will this cleverly address the issue of proportions, but it will also create a warm and inviting ambiance that will be visible from afar. In fact, this cozy addition will even enhance the interior space of the bar itself.
Our furniture proposal aims to transform the long corridor-like terrace space into intimate zones by creating niches that are defined by the existing facade column grid. Each niche is highlighted by planters, adding greenery and light to the space. We offer a range of configurations for guests to choose from, with a reconfigurable lounge area as the main seating option. Additionally, we have added a bench, swing, and large table to accommodate larger groups and provide different experiences for the guests.
We believe our proposal will not only address the current issues with the terrace, but also elevate the overall experience for patrons of the Melia Hotel’s rooftop bar.
